Fiber: What You Should be Eating in Order to Feel Full and Lose Weight


The worst thing about being on a weight loss plan is feeling hungry.  You are trying to turn your life around and eat healthy foods that are low in fat and calories and all you can think about is your next meal and how hungry you are right now.

I know from experience that this feeling is enough to ruin your weight loss plan.  I also know that there are certain foods that you can eat that will help you curb your appetite and stay on track towards your goals of weight loss.

When you are planning your meals out you want to make sure that you are incorporating foods that are high in fiber.  The reason behind this is that high fiber foods make you feel full and they take longer to digest, thus not leaving much room for you to load up on other things.

High fiber foods consist of whole grain breads and cereals, brown rice, bran, barley, oats/ oatmeal, lentils, beans, fruit, potatoes, corn, and various other vegetables.  These high fiber foods will not only keep you feeling full through out the day, but they will also help promote your weight loss and have other health benefits for you.

I recommend that you try to incorporate these foods into all of your meals and snacks.  You can start with a hearty breakfast that includes oatmeal.  This is an excellent way to get yourself going in the morning and starting up that metabolism.

When it comes time for your mid morning snack make sure to load up on the fruit.  It will keep you full until lunch and will give your body the vitamins and minerals it needs to stay healthy.  When lunch rolls around make sure to get plenty of vegetables into the mix.

You can also add some beans or lentils to your meal.  I can tell you from first hand experience that these two foods will keep you feeling full for quite a while.  You can finish off your day with either more fruits or incorporate whole grains.  No matter what you decide to do to aid your weight loss, you need to get a good mix of these food into your diet.  Fiber is the key to a full stomach and reaching those weight loss goals.
