My Meal Plan is Leaving Me Feeling Hungry: What Can I Do?
A common problem sleep apnea sufferers find when they are on a meal plan is that they’re left feeling hungry. They aren’t consuming the same amount of calories they are used to, and their body is burning off more calories because they are exercising.
This feeling of being hungry can be a real deal-breaker when it comes to losing weight. Many people just say, “I can just eat a little more since I’m really hungry; it won’t hurt.” The problem is that when they say that it never leads to them eating healthy foods that will promote weight loss and curb their appetite. The person always winds up eating something unhealthy, which will put the brakes on their weight loss goals.
If you are suffering from hunger then there are a few simple steps you need to take so you don’t wind up falling off of the wagon:
- One of the best things you can do is to make sure you are eating frequently throughout the day. This doesn’t mean you will be consuming large meals 5 to 6 times a day, but instead adding a couple of scheduled snacks to help you fight off the hunger.
- Your eating schedule should look like this: breakfast, small snack, lunch, small snack, dinner, small snack.
- Your small snacks should be something high in fiber like oatmeal or fruits and vegetables. Yogurt is another food that would make a good snack and leave you feeling full at the same time.
- When it is meal time feel free to load up on as many fruits and vegetables as you would like. They are low in calories and will leave you feeling full – so eat as much as you’d like!
- Another healthy and filling food item to consume is peanut butter on wheat toast. The peanut butter has protein and healthy oils that your body needs plus it is something that will take a while to digest and leave you feeling full longer.
So when you are planning your meals make sure that you follow the 5 to 6 plan. Remember that these aren’t 5 to 6 large meals. They consist of 3 normal meals and 3 SMALL snacks. Make sure to pick out foods with high fiber content and some lean protein.
These steps should help you feel full and lose weight at the same time!
